Diet in Colors of Rainbow
We all know for a fact that the more colorful the content of your plate, the healthier you’re eating. I am sure we are all familiar with the song “coat of many colors” It is time we sang ‘eating colors of the rainbow’, because one promise that lies within the bands of the magical rainbow is one of good health. A sense of complete well-being is guaranteed, not when you see the rainbow in the sky, but when you eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
According to ancient wisdom, every colour is surrounded by an aura, which energizes and vibrates different parts of the body. Modern scientific research has proved beyond doubt the psycho-physical impact of colours. Therefore, the more colourful your diet is (all natural colours of course!), the better equipped is your immune system to cope with diseases.
Red foods are supposed to be energy-giving and stimulating. They stimulate the adrenal glands. An adequate amount of red foods in the diet helps uplift moods, regenerate energy and increase vitality. Most red fruits and vegetables contain an antioxidant called lycopene, which offers protection against ultraviolet rays and cancer. Red foods also help to prevent infections of the urinary tract and diseases related to the circulatory system.
Orange foods have a direct impact on the endocrine system. Thus they are great for setting right any sort of emotional disorders. They also help in relieving stress. Orange fruit and vegetables containing beta-carotenoids fortify the body against a number of diseases.
Green foods in your diet ensure rejuvenation of the entire system. It helps to balance the entire system. Besides being rich in other nutrients, green foods contain soluble fibres, which offer protection against diseases like arthritis and some cancers.
Purple foods are said to have an influence on the pineal gland (the third eye) and the nervous system. Thus, their consumption results in clarity of thought. Some of them are said to lower the level of homocystine (a chemical that increases the risk of heart diseases) and cholesterol. Purple grapes contain four kinds of ellagic acids, which have anti- cancerous properties.
Pink foods influence the immune system. They offer protection against common colds and cancer.
